Tall and imposing, the Tower overlooks the vast space around it, quite literally towering over one and all. If you climb it, you will have a better overview of the situation and eventually perhaps have the upper hand. But isn’t it lonely at the top? This card signals just that – a high position, be it at a court of law, a church (especially when paired with Cross), a corporate institution, a large-scale place of business of any kind – but also can stand for loneliness, isolation, a job center, a hospital, any sort of desolate, bureaucratic institution – or even a prison.
This sense of being alone in the crowd pervades its meaning throughout. It prompts us to reevaluate our position in the world, perhaps withdraw from it for a while and do a bit of soul-searching. Depending on the surrounding cards, it can tell us what the issue may be or, if the reading is of the work-related variety, what our next place of employment might be like. If you wish to learn more, the other cards to look out for are Fox (entrepreneurship), Bear (boss) and Fish (money).
